About The Power of Dance

The Power of Dance is a dance school located close to Adelaide, South Australia.

Established in 2018, The Power of Dance provides quality dance education using a holistic and inclusive approach.

Based in Murray Bridge, the school offers classes in; Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Street Dance, Ballroom, Belly Dance, and more.

The studio environment is fun, friendly and professional and is suitable for students who dance for recreation, exercise or those who want to pursue a professional career in the industry.

Students will learn technical dance skills, choreography, dance history, correct terminology, safe dance practice, industry skills and dance culture. 

Dance is not only a great way to stay active and learn technical skills, it also helps students develop valuable life skills including; sharing, working as a team, counting, following, music theory, independent thinking, problem solving, spatial awareness, co-ordination, balance and creativity.  Expression through dance is also great for mental and emotional health, self –esteem and developing social skills.

The Power of Dance offers students a wide range of opportunities to perform, learn and grow including twice-yearly concerts, community events, workshops, competitions and contract work.

Students of all ages, levels and backgrounds are welcome at The Power of Dance and we’d love to welcome you to our school.

About the Director

Jenna Hann

Jenna has been passionate about dance her entire life. Beginning as a recreational student Jenna soon realised that her passion and drive extended further, so she began professional training as soon as she finished school.

Jenna completed four years training at GRADA  in Benalla, including dance teaching, live dance performance and acting courses. She then moved to Adelaide to complete her Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) at Flinders University/Adelaide College of the Arts.

Jenna believes that dance is something that should be accessible to people from all walks of life, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, location or ability. She is a passionate and dedicated teacher who strives for excellence and personal development both for herself and her students.

Jenna has studied many dance and movement styles including: Jazz, Classical Ballet, Hip Hop, Street Dance, Tap, Belly Dance, Acting, Ariel Silks, Tumbling, Lyrical, Contemporary and Stage Combat just to name a few.

Before she founded The Power of Dance, Jenna worked as a dance teacher in many schools and private studios , as well as choreographed  and performed in South Australia and Victoria. Jenna also has experience teaching and working with children and adults who have both physical and metal health challenges and disabilities. Jenna has worked with many choreographers including Israel Aloni, Lee Brummer, Kerrie Sinclair, Michelle Ryan and Peter Sheedy. She has been a member of Restless Dance Theatre's Youth ensemble.

Jenna is proud to call Murray Bridge home and lives with her husband Dyllan and their two fur babies Foxy and Pebbles.

Staff

Kelly Tucker  Teacher (Street & Acrobatics)

Kelly has more than 10 years experience in hip hop and street dance styles. In 2010 she attended hip-hop classes at Attitude Dance and her passion and interest grew from here. During her years of dancing, she has undertaken many styles of dance which include, popping, locking, shuffling, tutting, burlesque, bollywood, lyrical, funk, breakdancing, heels, vogue and krump. 

Kelly started her teaching journey as a relief teacher and then went on to manage a branch of a dance school on her own.

Kelly has a business management background and also works as a disability support worker. Her passion for dance, teaching, learning, and sharing her art makes her a great addition to The Power of Dance team. Kelly teaches all of the street classes as well as a Level 1 acrobatics class on a Monday night.

Belinda Joppich  Teacher (Ballroom)

Belinda began dancing as a teenager, joining a local Studio for Jazz dance classes with some friends.  She developed a love of dance, but it wasn’t until Belinda first started teaching Ballroom dancing at a dance school in Prospect in her mid-twenties that she found a passion for this enchanting and exhilarating genre of dance.  During her many years of dancing Belinda has explored and enjoyed many different styles, but she still has a special love of the grace and beauty that Ballroom embodies.  Her enthusiasm for ballroom is a complementary addition to the already extensive ensemble of dance styles available at The Power of Dance.

Belinda teaches Ballroom on a Monday night.

Estelle Riley  Teacher (Belly Dance)

Estelle’s love of dance started in her teens, with dance and drama classes in high school. She fell in love with the stage during her school musical productions, including a winning Rock’n’Roll Eisteddfod performance. Estelle rediscovered her passion for dance as a TPOD student and she continues to refine and develop her skills, attending various classes and workshops in and around Adelaide, at every opportunity.

As a Belly Dance teacher, Estelle is inspired to see this artform empowering women, and encouraging friendship and connection. 

When Estelle is not practising her shimmy, you will find her doing Pilates and playing with the alpacas on her hobby farm.

Estelle teaches Belly Dance on a Friday night.

Mikayla Joppich  Trainee Teacher

Mikayla has been dancing for most of her life, and has been a student at The Power of Dance since its beginnings in 2018. She is currently teaching a Jazz and a Ballet class with TPOD while completing her Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching.

Skye Fairney  Administration

Skye started dancing at The Power of Dance as an adult in her forties, and quickly became addicted! She has taken classes in almost every style, so is well-equipped to substitute teach when we need her. Most of the time, however, Skye is working hard behind the scenes doing everything from administration and accounts to event planning and prop-making.

-Child Safe Environment & Mandatory Reporting

-Child Protection and Safeguarding, Sport Integrity

-Certificate III in Business Administration
